Canon may not the be the first name you think of when it comes to Virtual Reality technology, but that could change. At the yearly Canon Expo in New York, a VR protoype unit was spotted on the floor. The unit has attendees holding the device on their faces with each eye sporting a monitor of 2.k resolution with a total combined resolution of 5k. The unit itself looks like a very big controller that definitely seems uncomfortable to strap to one’s face.
Canon previously unveiled an augmented-reality system called MREAL, but it has yet to see any real fruition in the consumer market.
